Commons refer to the non commodified resources that enable users to meet their needs; communities are the commoners who share the resources and set the norms and commoning refer to the social practices that create and reproduce commons.
This spatial and theoretic proposal aims to redefine the role of the decision-making spaces in a city. Nowadays, City Halls function as closed and bureaucratic entities. However, in a democratic society these hidden processes should be accessible and transparent to all. In this proposal through a variety of cultural practices, residents of the 10th District of Budapest could become active participants in the everyday politics and decision-making processes.
The project found its spatial necessities in a half abandoned shopping mall. The existing building stands in a middle of an intermodal mobility hub, yet it is completely underused and not accessible to the public. With some structural modification, demolishing only the necessary and adding some new spatial elements these forgotten spaces could become vital again.
